For Memorial weekend, we had a relaxing one just hanging around town. We went up to the Salt Lake City cemetery to Kevin's dad's grave and Kevin's grandparents and extended family. He has a lot of family who have been buried up there. It is a cool cemetery that has a lot of prophets and apostles who have been laid to rest there. While we were there, we went by President Hinkley's headstone who is near David O McKay. I had to take a picture because it was so beautiful to see all the flowers surrounding his grave. It just made me remember how much he was loved by so many. And seeing the grass not fully healed from his recent burial reminded me of how recent it had been since his passing. I feel so blessed to life here and have the opportunities that I have being a member of he church here. I know I take it for granted sometimes, but seeing things like this makes me realize how lucky I am.

Sew-A-Thon!
Sewing is taking over my life! Not really. But I sure could let it! And from your point of view, it probably looks like it. But don't worry the kids are still alive! So I came up with a last minute idea to have a sewing overnighter. My parents were out of town so Stacey and I left our kids with the dads and set up camp there and sewed late into the night. It was great to get some projects DONE! I had MaryJane which was a little hard but after she settled down, I got in the zone and cranked! Sadie's one lucky girl having a mommy loving sewing and all the fun fabric out there! And here are the results!

This is called a pillowcase dress. You could make it out of a pillowcase but I just used fabric with the same measurements. I've been wanting to make one for along time! I saw this cute fabric on artsycraftybabe's blog and got my motivation! This dress was so fun and easy! I can't wait to make Sadie's fourth of July dress! I already have the fabric! Sadie just loves it! After I showed it to her, she wore it all day! Nap and all! A big hit! It's so fun to see her wear clothes I made!
And a couple of skirts for the summer.
Next I'd like to try a 3 tier dress but I had left the pattern at home. :( Maybe next time.

Preschool's over!
Cole graduated from preschool last week! I always love watching his program! Strikes a sentimental cord in me. He sang his George Washington song with cute white hair and some other cute songs too. "I'm getting eaten by a 'bola constrictor'..." (his favorite one) I can't believe he will be in kindergarten in almost 3 months!! WAAAAAAA! We loved Miss Dana! We are so excited for Sadie to have her as a teacher too.

The life I live!

Is it a Kevin thing? Or an accountant thing? I'm not sure. Maybe both. It's 9:45 a.m and I am at home. It feels like I just said goodbye to my husband for the day. He left at about 9:00. I know, late start. The Phone just rang and it's him. He is reminding me to do something for him, i.e call the bank about an error etc... and a couple of other things. No problem. But the funny thing is, that he woke up, got ready, went to work, opened his planner, and saw me on his to do list and called me to ask me to do something! Why couldn't he just have done that at home? Before he left? When we were together? Too funny to me! And it just dawned on me that this is not a rare occurrence. He does this to me weekly! I am now remembering seeing my name in his planner as apart of his "to do" list! If only he was so diligent about taking me out on dates. Maybe I should put that in his planner. At least I'll know it will get done! :)

Summer cut!
I've been trying to decide whether to grow out Sadie's bangs or not this summer. But after I gave her this cute short summer cut, I made my decision. Grow 'em.

How Embarasing!!

So I ran into Emigration market today to quickly grab some turkey from the deli. As I was in line, I noticed that I recognized the lady in front of me. Elder Maxwell's daughter. (I used to do her sisters hair.) Anyway, I started talking to her and she was updating me on her sisters lives. In the mean time the cashier rung her up. Her last two items were close to mine on the conveyor belt. A watermelon and a Hersey's chocolate bar. The cashier asked if they were mine and I said no and continued chatting with Jane. Well after Jane had paid, it dawned on me that the chocolate bar might have not been hers after all. My kids love getting those! So I asked her if she had purchased one and she said "no." I had then realized that Sadie must have put that there for me to buy her. I felt so embarrassed and Jane was so nice about it and gave me the candy bar and wouldn't let me pay her for it. Little did she know that when I distracted her today that I would try to sneak off some of my bill on her. Sorry and Thanks Jane!

On to something new!
If you know me well, you know my favorite store is Jolleys Pharmacy! I could write a whole post just on Jolleys!(this might just be it!) It's the cutest little shop near my house. Across from Emigration Market and Eggs in the City. Two adorable stores there on the corner. I feel like I live in a movie when I'm over there. Like my own "You've Got Mail" scene! I frequent the place at least once a week! Sadly, they know me by name there. It's great to get my subscriptions filled there for an added excuse to go there! They have home decor, ribbon, vintage stuff, jewelry, flowers, kids clothes, shoes and toys, candy, video rental, and so much more!!!! I think my favorite thing is the candied filled jars behind the counter that you can buy by the pound! Not such a cheep way to buy candy but definitely worth the experience! On to my point. I went there to find a mother's day gift there on saturday and stumbled onto these cute pink, yellow and mint green rubber gloves. My heart beat raced when I thought of my new ruffler!! Ruffle ruffle ruffle! Just add ruffles!! So for a very late afterthought I ran home and rummaged through my fabrics scraps and made these! I was so excited! They turned out so cute! I can't wait to make more! I just might have to wait til Jolley restocks their supply. I bought the last 4! A $1.50 each!

Happy Birthday Cole!

I had to do a picture of just the cake! The palm trees were pretty droopy but I was running out of time. But still, I thought it turned out pretty cute! The only thing it lacked was a Mermaid on the mermaid rocks! Cole REALLY wanted a mermaid. (?) I can only do so much out of frosting! Maybe next time Cole!
