Swim Lessons!

(cole floated until the count of 23)

Cole and Sadie did really well this year in swimming.  Their teacher MaryKate was real cute with them.  It was great to finally see some improvement in Cole in swimming.  For the first time he actually listened to him teacher and did as she told.  Within no time she had him swim across the width of the pool, floating on his back, and even jumping off the diving board and swimming to the side.

Sadie was actually pretty funny to watch swim.  She would just kick in the water like la-ti-da, just shooting the breeze.  Her favorite thing was the dolphin rides on her teachers back.

We decided to take a treat to their teacher on the last day so we asked her her favorite color.  Orange.  So we gave her orange OPI polish, orange toe separators, an orange drink, and peach rings with an orange bow.  It turned out really cute and MaryKate really liked it.

Family Pics! Wahoo!

So here are the pictures we took while we were in California in April.  I've actually had them for awhile but haven't had the time to post them.  I think they turned out really cute!  I love the scene!  Sadie was just so fun for Jill (the photographer) to take pictures of.  She got some cute ones of her.  Poor little Maryjane just practically cried the entire time!  Ugh!  I don't know what her deal was!  Poor thing.  I tried everything!  At least I got one picture of her not crying.  I'm so happy we got a family picture!  It's been a long time!  And who knows when we can make that happen again!  Thanks J.J for taking great pictures!

Photography 101

My "big" 3 0 birthday is coming up next month and I'm so excited that Kevin allowed me to get my "big" birthday gift early so that I can use it for our up coming vacation and holiday.  I debated so much on which camera to get.  Nikon or Canon.  Most people I talked to said Canon.  Which is your preference?  I honestly don't know.  I only got the Canon because when I got down to Costco, that's all they had.  The Nikon promo had ended I guess.  I would still consider a Nikon if someone could help me in the decision.  I'm looking forward to learning how to use it!  Last night we went to sugar house park and I was able to use it a bit.  Oh it was sooo much fun!!  I so badly want to take a photography class.  I want to know what I'm doing when I'm taking pictures of my kids.  Or how to even do mini photo shoots at my house with them.  Can anyone suggest a good photo class?  Want to join me?  I always love a good deal, then again who doesn't?  I was able to use a $500 gift certificate Costco mailed to us for being an executive member!  Yay!  It made getting that camera not so bad!  So CHECK YOUR MAIL!  The girl at Costco said most people just throw those things away thinking it's just junk mail.  Lucky Kevin opens every piece of mail!  He's OCD about the mail.  I'll save that for another post.   Oh, and that cute adorable camera strap,  I got it on Etsy!  Go get one!

Father's Day?

So here  it is, a week later and I feel so bad I didn't make a post about Kevin.  I had every intention of taking a picture of him and the kids but somehow I failed.  Sorry Kev.  He is a great Dad and the Kids just adore him! They sometimes can't get enough of him!  He does so much for our family and we feel so lucky he's ours!  We went to Nana's and enjoyed the evening playing with cousins.  Sadie decided to treat us to her lovely singing voice.  She LOVES to sing!  She'll sing anywhere we go.  And at the top of her lungs too!  I recently showed her for the first time Beauty and the Beast.  She loves it!  I'll even sing the parts for her and walk around singing while reading a book. "and her nose stuck in a book!  She's nothin' like the rest of us that Belle."  I found her the other day walking around the house singing with a book open.  I tried to chime is and she immediately got after me and told me that didn't have a book!

Here she is singing "Strawbabababerry Shortcake"

Love her!  She even sings this song at swim lessons while floating on her back.  It is the only way I can get her to put her ears under the water.  She likes the sound of her voice under there!  It's funny to watch her singing once again at the top of her lungs in the pool.  So Sadie!

Western Night!

We recently had a western night party at our church.  And it stirred up my creative juices!  I made a western bandanna type skirt for Sadie.  It only cost me $5 to make!  She just looked adorable!  Now she needs a cute pair of red cowboy boots!  Cole was a cowboy for halloween last year and now that I've made this skirt for Sadie,  I think it would be fun to have them be cowboy & cowgirl this year.  We'll see if they're willing.  I love his chaps my mother-in-law handed down.  It just makes the outfit!

Now that I've sewn so much for Sadie, I've tempted with the idea to sew a skirt for me.  I found this book online called "Sew What! SKIRTS"and checked it out at the library to decide if I really want to purchase it.   I have only made one skirt from it(sadie's skirt) and I LOVE not having a pattern and just using the body measurements!  This will have to be a definite purchase!  The possibilities could be endless!!   It's great for a beginner like me!

Yummy!

Well MaryJane will be six months old on saturday!  I can't believe how fast time if flying!  I decided to start her on oatmeal last week and she LOVES it!   I'm always surprised at how big and pretty her eyes are.  I don't notice it much on a day to day basis.  But when I download pics, they really look big!

Sadie is the best "little" mother.  She's always by my side helping me.

MaryJane is probably my messiest beginner eater.  She just wants to be involved with the process!  The food just gets everywhere!

She's got this high chair thing figured out!  She just props her foot up and hangs out.  Such a cute age!

My little biker

Cole LOVES his bike!  His rides so fast too!  He's been really good at it ever since he began.  One of his favorite activities is to go on a bike ride with his dad when he comes home from work.  Kevin will ride his Z50(mini motorcycle) following Cole.  Kevin takes Cole all over the place.  His favorite thing is to go down steep hills. I know, scary.  But we recently just got him a helmet and are more admit that he wears it seeing how fast he likes to ride.  Well, last week we were all headed inside to get ready for bed.  I was starting the bath and Kevin was rounding up the kids.  Cole, not wearing his helmet, shirtless(from playing ninja), on the side walk, going "medium", met the pavement.  HARD.  With his face!  Poor kid!  He was all banged up and bleeding.  He cut his lip pretty bad on the inside but after a few phone calls, we determined he would probably not need stitches.  His lip got soooo swollen.  I felt so bad!  I'm not ready for this kind of boy play hard stuff.  I felt so helpless as he scream how his teeth hurt.  What am I in store for?  What ever it is, I don't know how ready I am!
And somehow he's proud of all his wounds!

Dance and Soccer

Okay, It's now time to do some catching up!  Both Cole and Sadie had their final Soccer game and Dance Recital the same day!  Sadie just loves to go to dance!  Any extra girlie fun she can get!
The dance theme was Mary Poppins.  Ballet was to the song "stake awake"  which I LOVE from the movie!  Sadie's bow just cracks me up!

And Cole has just loved soccer!  It's been great for him.  His coach was so fun and was real sweet when he gave out the trophies.  He gave Cole a trophy for "being a fast runner on the team".   He just carries that trophy around and won't let anyone forget what his coach said about him.  Thanks coach Tom!

Oh how He LOVES that trophy!  I saw this cute Soccer ribbon at Walmart awhile back and thought it would be cute for his coach on something.  So one day we decided to make him cookies.  I didn't have any chocolate chips so we make snicker doodles.  And as we made them this popped into my head...

I know, I'm a dork.  But it was sure fun putting it together!  I've just discovered this ribbon thing.  It can sure make a gift turn out cute!

Results!

Okay everyone!  Thanks for playing!  It was great fun to get some new ideas!  I can't wait to put them in use!  I've meant to blog in between these last two posts but somehow time just keeps getting away from me.  And so I must announce the winner of these cute cupicake gloves!

I must admit what I found Sadie doing with these gloves.  I had them on the table in the front room after taking pictures for the giveaway.  And look what I found her doing during her nutritional lunch...
Oops!  Sorry Julie!  Don't worry.  I got them away from her without any Mac and Cheese on them. Phew!
